What Actually Is the IB Curriculum?

The first thing to understand is that IB isn't just the Diploma students take at the end of school.

There are programmes for different ages, including the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme.

A major feature of IB education is inquiry.

Students are encouraged to ask questions, make connections between ideas and develop skills such as research, communication and critical thinking.

So rather than only asking, “What facts does my child know?”, IB often also asks, “Can they use that knowledge and think independently?”

But remember: an IB school is not automatically a good school.

The quality of the teaching still matters enormously.
